Ask a Canadian why they still pay for cable and the answer is usually one word: hockey. National games, regional rights and the playoffs can mean juggling several packages to follow a single team. On MoaTV, it's all in one guide.
What's covered
- Every game for Montréal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
- National Saturday games and the out-of-market games regional packages leave out.
- The full Stanley Cup playoffs.
- The World Juniors over the holidays.
Watching from BC or Alberta
A 7 pm Eastern start is 4 pm in Vancouver, still the middle of the workday for most people. Replay Sports and catch-up let you start the game when you get home. Just stay off social media until then.
Internet and data caps
You'll want around 10 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K on each TV. The bigger issue in Canada is the monthly data cap, if your plan has one. An HD game uses about 3 GB an hour, and an 82-game season adds up quickly, so an unlimited plan is worth it for serious fans.
Which plan length makes sense?
The NHL runs from October to June. A 12-month MoaTV plan covers the whole season, the playoffs, and then the CFL and Blue Jays through the summer. Watching in two rooms? Add a second screen when you order.
Tip: If one French-language broadcast matters to you, ask us before ordering and we'll confirm it's in the lineup.
