A lot of our American viewers came straight from cable or satellite. The ones who had the easiest switch did a bit of homework first. This is the checklist we walk people through.
1. Test your internet where you watch
Run a speed test on the TV or stick itself, not on your phone beside the router. Allow about 10 Mbps for each HD screen and 25 Mbps for 4K. A family watching three TVs at once wants 50 Mbps or more.
2. Choose the device
A Fire TV Stick is the cheapest and most popular option. Samsung and LG TVs, Android TV and Apple TV work too. Roku is the odd one out, because it doesn't allow IPTV players.
3. Write down five must-have channels
Most people only truly miss a handful: local news, a sports network or two, and a couple of entertainment channels. Check them against the MoaTV channels list, or send us the names and we'll confirm.
4. Think about sports first
Sports is where cable bills balloon, with regional sports fees on top. MoaTV includes the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college games and PPV events in every plan.
5. Overlap for a week
Keep cable running for the first week. Use MoaTV side by side, make sure your channels and your Wi-Fi hold up, then cancel.
6. Return the box and keep the receipt
Call the cable company, cancel, and return every box so the rental fees stop. Ask for a receipt. Disputed equipment charges are a common last surprise.
